FAQs

What is the difference between Smart Internet Access SD-WAN (SIA SD-WAN) and other SD-WAN services?

SIA SD-WAN combines SD-WAN capabilities with Smart Internet Access services provided by us. This integration offers you a comprehensive solution that includes both connectivity and SD-WAN functionality in a single package, with a single bill and point of contact.

In contrast, traditional SD-WAN solutions may require you to buy internet access services separately from a service provider.

What is the difference between SIA SD-WAN and standard SIA?

Smart Internet Access (SIA) combines our internet with Cisco’s Meraki MX enterprise security to provide fast, secure, reliable connectivity. This gives you visibility of your network and the ability to make changes via the cloud-based Meraki dashboard.

It offers high-speed internet connectivity over a variety of access technologies such as dedicated ethernet, FTTP (fibre to the premises), SOGEA (single order generic ethernet access) and cable modem, extending the capabilities of standard SIA by incorporating SD-WAN technology.

SD-WAN enhances network connectivity and performance by dynamically managing traffic, optimising application performance and providing secure connections between different locations and cloud services. And you can benefit from features such as automatic failover, application prioritisation, centralised management and improved security.

How much does SIA with SD-WAN cost?

This can vary depending on the specific requirements of your organisation such as bandwidth, connectivity options, service availability needs and contract duration.
Call us on 0800 073 1741 for a customised quote based on your organisation’s needs.

Can SIA SD-WAN scale to support my organization's needs?

SIA with SD-WAN is designed to scale and support the varying needs of organisations, regardless of size or complexity. You can easily add new sites, expand bandwidth and adapt to changing requirements as your organisation evolves.

The solution's flexibility allows it to scale up or down according to your needs, ensuring your network can support increased data demands, new applications and emerging technologies.

We also provide expert support to help you optimise and manage your network as it scales, ensuring you can maintain high performance, reliability and security across your entire organisation.

What contract length should we choose?

This depends on your organisation’s preferences and future outlook.

One-year Short-term flexibility if you have changing needs or want to test the service before committing to a longer term. Reassess requirements and potentially adjust services or providers as needed after the contract period ends.

Three-year Strike a balance between short-term flexibility and long-term stability. A longer commitment period potentially offers more favourable pricing or terms compared to a one-year contract. Get stability and consistency in your networking services over a moderate timeframe.

Five-year Maximum stability and potentially the most cost-effective if you have long-term strategic plans or are looking to lock in favourable rates for an extended period. Predictability and security in networking services over an extended period.

How easily does SIA SD-WAN integrate with my existing network infrastructure?

SIA SD-WAN is designed to seamlessly integrate with your existing network infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum compatibility. Integration is typically straightforward and then we can assist with the setup and configuration to ensure a smooth transition.

Its flexible deployment options enable you to implement the solution gradually, integrating it with your existing infrastructure at your own pace.

How does SIA with SD-WAN handle downtime or disaster recovery scenarios?

SIA with SD-WAN has resilient architecture and advanced features to help you maintain continuity and resilience in your network infrastructure.

Redundant Connectivity, automatic failover mechanisms and dynamic path selection ensure the best path for traffic and seamless switching in the event of connection failure, while integrated security features such as firewalls and secure VPN tunnels safeguard data and applications during downtime or disaster recovery scenarios. Its centralised management enables administrators to implement disaster recovery plans from a single interface, ensuring efficient recovery and minimal disruption to operations.

Does SIA with SD-WAN meet my industry's security compliance requirements?

SIA with SD-WAN is designed to meet stringent security standards and compliance requirements across various industries.

Integrated security features and customised policies, encryption, access control, auditing and logging enable your organisation to safeguard sensitive data and maintain regulatory compliance.

We hold ISO/IEC 27001:2103 and NCSC Cyber Essentials Plus certification, which means you don’t need to undertake your own independent audit and certification of the services.

What do we need to consider when choosing bandwidth, connectivity, and service availability requirements?

By carefully evaluating the following factors and potential limitations, you can optimise your network infrastructure to meet your business needs effectively.

Bandwidth
Assess the number of users, devices, applications, and data traffic patterns and choose a bandwidth tier that can accommodate current requirements while allowing for future growth and scalability. SIA SD-WAN supports high-speed connectivity with speeds of up to 10Gbps

Connectivity options
Assess based on reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness. SIA SD-WAN offers a variety of connectivity options including ethernet, FTTP, SOGEA and cable broadband. Availability may vary depending on geographical location.

Service level agreements (SLAs)
Ensure SLAs align with business requirements and provide adequate assurances for service availability and reliability. Check commitments regarding uptime, performance guarantees and response times for issue resolution.

Costs
Evaluate the cost implications of different connectivity types, bandwidth tiers and service availability levels. Ensure your selections align with budgetary constraints / financial objectives and consider ongoing operational expenses as well as upfront costs.

Redundancy and failover
Assess your redundancy requirements based on how critical operations are and your tolerance for downtime. Implementing redundant connections and failover mechanisms may incur additional costs and complexity, so weigh it up.

Integration with existing infrastructure
Consider how SIA SD-WAN will integrate with your existing network infrastructure, applications, and systems. Compatibility, interoperability and migration considerations should be evaluated to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to operations.
