A need for speed

So Virgin Media Business Wholesale were excited to support Aspire on their bid for a full-fbre network contract with Newcastle City Council.
Like other go-ahead cities, Newcastle wants its education centres to offer fast, flexible learning without bandwidth restrictions. What’s more, since being voted Smart City of the Year 2020, its council has been looking to technology to deliver better public services across the board to improve the lives of its residents.

Aspire knew it could grow its existing network to support Newcastle’s digital transformation – it just needed a flexible and adaptable partner to help make things happen. Not just to supply dark fibre to support its bid, but also to realise future growth ambitions and help build on its successes. Enter Virgin Media Business Wholesale. Aspire told us that it chose our dark-fibre solution based on the strength of our network reach and pricing. So, to prepare them for the bid submission, we worked closely together on the bid resourcing and management. And we also took on providing all the necessary technical pre-sales support and expertise.
A win every which way
Aspire was successful in its bid and is now busy rolling out the full-fibre network for Newcastle City Council, with completion expected later this year. And to ensure everything starts smoothly, Newcastle will be able to access Aspire’s in-house IT support and service desk 24 × 7 × 365. Thanks to this strategy, Aspire has already won credibility over its competitors in the public-sector space, and is now discussing partnerships with Virgin Media Business Wholesale on other bids in nearby council areas.
